Is iPhone 4 going to outshine other smartphones??

Well techies, iPhone 4 is going to be made available this Thursday in US (24th June) and is available exclusively from AT&T.; Lets see when it comes to Pakistan for all the big techies out here. Now iPad is readily available in Pakistan on few relatively popular online stores for around Rs. 59000 (16GB version with Wifi) but is quite expensive for an average joe. Well coming to the iPhone, this gadget is already quite popular among techies in Pakistan and the new iPhone 4 may outshine its predecessor in terms of sale and popularity in Pakistan (Well the phone is smart enough to that!).

Currently smartphones from Nokia are the most popular in Pakistan because of the advertising campaigns and sponsorships by the telecom giant (One can see several billboards and concerts are mostly sponsored by Nokia). I believe if Apple relies the potential here in Pakistan and launches the iPhone officially, it can gather much more market than Nokia.

There are many reasons why Nokia may be losing its market share. One of the main reasons is that Nokia is not doing enough to improve their devices. The Symbian OS version which is currently installed in most of the devices has become relatively old and less catchy when we compare it with Android OS and iPhone OS. To be specific, Symbian OS 9.3, 9.4 & 9.5 all are a bit sluggish, have less eye candy to appeal to its users and ironically, the applications they allow to be installed on them is less in number and most of them (available through Ovi Store) are of no practical use! On the contrary the Apps Store by Apple offers a large number of latest applications, game titles and movies which are useful in some way or the other. When it comes to touchscreen devices, most of them are running Symbian OS 9.5 (except Nokia N8 and Nokia N900) which is quite sluggish compared to iPhone and the touch screen is not so responsive. There are few applications available for these new touchscreen devices through the Ovi Store. The games available for these new devices are not capable of utilizing the full capability of the touch screen and the accelerometer. In general, in my opinion, if Nokia doesn’t changes its norms, its going to lose in the long run which is evident from this report published on 17th June in The Wall Street Journal.

Now review the tech specs and the video and decide for yourself which device would you opt for if both are available for you for free!!
